Transforming Collaboration in Geothermal Energy Research and Innovation
The GEOTHERMICA Horizon 2020 project concluded in 2022. Its partners, representing 20 geothermal energy research and innovation program owners and managers from 16 countries, have a public responsibility to support secure, sustainable, competitive, and affordable energy for their citizens and economic activities. They act on this responsibility by supporting research and innovation in geothermal energy.
These partners have established a foundation for long-lasting collaboration within the GEOTHERMAL ERA-NET, supported by the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) and within the GEOTHERMICA Horizon2020 expanded this collaboration and cement its role as a “central pillar” in strengthening the European geothermal sector.
In 2023, the GEOTHERMICA co-funded Horizon 2020 project transformed into the GEOTHERMICA Initiative. This new phase of cooperation began with seven public authorities from six different countries.
