GEOTHERMICA Cabinet

In June 2023, the GEOTHERMICA Initiative had its spectacular kick-off event in the heart of Iceland, a nation known for its geothermal energy powers! Iceland's stunning landscapes and geothermal energy expertise provided the perfect backdrop for this historic occasion. 

Cabinet representatives

Orkustofnun (OS): Iceland’s National Energy Authority promotes transparency, innovation, and informed discussions in energy matters, providing expert advice for public well-being.

RVO Netherlands: The Netherlands Enterprise Agency specializes in renewable energy innovation.

DoE United States: The Geothermal Technologies Office (GTO) at the U.S. Department of Energy reduces costs and risks in geothermal development through innovative technologies.

PtJ Germany: Project Management Jülich supports research and innovation management, aiding the German Federal Government, federal states, and the European Commission in achieving research policy goals.

Cabinet support

The GEOTHERMICA Initiative’s Cabinet is supported by several European funding agencies, including RANNIS (Iceland), DETEC (Switzerland), and GSI (Ireland). Additionally, influential networks such as the CET Partnership TRI4 Office, JPP Smart Energy Systems, IWG Geothermal and ETIP Geothermal are collaborating with them.

A dedicated support unit for the initiative has been established at the GEOTHERMICA Initiative Office (GI Office).

GEOTHERMICA traces its origins to the GEOTHERMAL ERA-NET project, initiated in 2012 as part of cooperative efforts by public authorities.
